 Dear Sir:

Regarding your request on X and Bluesky for someone interested in covering the Seattle Torrent. I currently write a blog called Seattle SPORTs Now, covering the Seattle Kraken primarily, some Seattle Mariners, and hopefully the Torrent.

I would definitely be interested in covering the Torrent for Emerald City Spectrum. Prior to moving to Seattle, I worked for most of the newspapers in my home state of Rhode Island as a sportswriter and always wrote a lot of hockey- Mount St. Charles Academy, the number-one ranked high school team in the country for several years, college hockey and the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

I've enclosed some recently written articles. These are game stories which I believe you'd be interested in but I wrote some feature articles on the blog about Pete Carroll and Dave Niehaus that drew positive feedback.

With the National Hockey League celebrating its Christmas break, it’s a good time to look back at the Seattle Kraken’s 2025-26 season. However, this Kraken team raises more questions than answers? Is this the Seattle team that had its best regular season start in their brief NHL tenure with 20 standings points in the first month of the season, or the team that won only one game in 11 and went almost a month without a win in regulation time. Lifetime Seattle Mariner fans have never really met Ken Griffey or Ichiro or Julio Rodriguez. Except maybe a glimpse or a word with them at a public event. Fans don't really know what their favorite players are REALLY like as people. But many baseball fans develop an attachment to the broadcasters who call the action of their favorite team. Many fans might not even recognize Ken Griffey Jr.'s voice, but generations of M's followers instantly recognized the voice of longtime Mariner voice Dave Niehaus. When Niehaus, who broadcast the first-ever Mariners' game in 1977, died of a heart attack in 2010, for many fans it was like a loss in the family. Some of them listened to Niehaus' mellifluous tones more than they talked to some of their relatives. While there are several sites that provide game stories this is something new and different- a weekly newsletter that will focus on Seattle sports and whatever catches the attention of your author.
